In response to recent media speculation, the company said: "The board’s primary focus remains on maximising shareholder value.

"At this time, there can be no certainty that any agreement will be reached, nor as to the terms of any such agreement.

"The board will only consider the sale of any of its brands if that transaction meets its minimum value thresholds and which adequately reflects the strengths and prospects of those brands."

Next 15 said further updates will be provided as appropriate.

On Monday, Sky News reported that private equity firm Epiris is in talks to buy a sizeable chunk of the marketing services firm.

According to Sky, Epiris - which owns the Big Table casual dining group and also counted auctioneer Bonhams among its recent investments - has approached Next 15 Group about a deal.

City sources told Sky that Epiris' offer included Next 15 subsidiaries MHP Communications, a leading financial public relations firm.
